Maundy Thursday Communion Service

7pm Thursday (April 13, 2017)

Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday, falls on the Thursday before Easter and it commemorates the Last Supper of Christ with His disciples. The word Maundy is an old English word meaning “mandate or command.” Along with the Last Supper, many churches reenact the washing of the disciples’ feet as Christ did at the Last Supper. The focus has always been on the Last Supper. For the disciples, it was to be an ordinary Passover meal that was the custom of the Jews on that night. But Christ would forever redefine the meal as the fulfillment of the Passover. One of the traditions here at CBC has been our Maundy Thursday service. We celebrate Communion as the community of faith, but we sit at a table and serve one another. It is a beautiful time together as members of the Christian family and as Calvary Baptist.Toward the end of the service we begin to transition toward a glimpse of Good Friday as our own Drew Wright sings a song by Ray Boltz  “Watch the Lamb”.
