PRELUDE:                “ Prelude in A-Minor”     by J. Mansfield

INTROIT

*CALL TO WORSHIP:                              Psalm 149: 1-5

Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song,

God's praise in the assembly of the

faithful.

Let Israel be glad in its Maker;

let the children of Zion rejoice in their

Ruler.

Let them praise God's name with dancing,

making melody to the Lord with

tambourine and lyre.

For the LORD takes pleasure in his people;

God adorns the humble with victory.

Let the faithful exult in glory;

let them sing for joy on their couches.

*HYMN 355:              “For All the Saints”

RESPONSIVE CALL TO PRAYER:

Remember the coming of Technicolor to the movies… Before everything had been black and white,

but in a moment everything became glorious color.

And we have no desire to go back to black and white…Except occasionally for a period piece.

            We would miss the vibrant reality of color.

Our recent election had a way of making everything black and white, or at least dichromatic…

            It was easy to see… red and blue.

And depending on your political position…

            It was easy to define the enemy.

Jesus' coming brought us into the age of Technicolor.  His coming called us to see reality as it truly is in the eyes of God. This world is not to be a place of hoarding or hating but a place of loving.

            Lord lead us as individuals, and as a nation, in the ways of peace and love. Amen.

THE LORD’S SUPPER

SHARING THE BREAD                                   (#446)

Take time to be holy, Speak oft with thy Lord;

Abide in Him always, And feed on His Word:

Make friends of God’s children, Help those who are weak;

Forgetting in nothing His blessing to seek.

Take time to be holy, The world rushes on;

Spend much time in secret With Jesus alone:

By looking to Jesus Like Him thou shalt be;

Thy friends in thy conduct His likeness shall see.

SHARING THE CUP                                     (#276)

O Jesus, I have promised To serve Thee to the end;

Be Thou forever near me, My Master and my friend;

I shall not fear the battle If Thou art by my side,

Nor wander from the pathway If Thou wilt be my guide.

O Jesus, Thou has promised to all who follow Thee,

That where Thou art in glory, There shall Thy servant be;

And, Jesus, I have promised To serve Thee to the end;

O give me grace to follow My Master and my friend!
