*CALL TO WORSHIP: Psalm 24: 1-8
The earth is
the Lord's and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it;
for God has
founded it on the seas, and established it on the rivers.
Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in God’s
holy place?
Those who have
clean hands and pure hearts, who do not lift up their souls to what is false,
and do not swear deceitfully.
They will receive blessing from the LORD, and vindication from the God
of their salvation.
Such is the
company of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.
Lift up your heads, O gates! and be lifted up, O ancient doors! that
the King of glory may come in.
Who is the
King of glory?
The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in
battle.

UNISON
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
God of the great feast, of the victory celebration for
all people, we must confess to You, that in our minds a victory celebration
would just involve winners. This would
imply for us that there would also be some losers, whose presence would make us
feel more joyous. When You prepare a
table before us, in the presence of our enemies, we want to have them see us
anointed. We want our deaths to be
swallowed up forever… our tears dried, but we would like our enemies to
continue to experience death and mourning.
Forgive our selfish pride, Lord, and
help us to understand that tears and death will continue until we are able to
sit at a table together with all people.
WORDS
OF ASSURANCE:
Is
it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into
your house; when you see the naked, to cover them, and not to hide yourself
from your own kin? Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your
healing shall spring up quickly… (Isaiah 58: 7-8a)

THE LORD’S SUPPER
SHARING THE BREAD (#446)
Take time to be holy,
Speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in Him always, And
feed on His Word:
Make friends of God’s
children, Help those who are weak;
Forgetting in nothing His
blessing to seek.
Take time to be holy, The
world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret
With Jesus alone:
By looking to Jesus Like
Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct
His likeness shall see.
SHARING THE CUP (#276)
O Jesus, Thou has promised
to all who follow Thee,
That where Thou art in
glory, There shall Thy servant be;
And, Jesus, I have
promised To serve Thee to the end;
O give me grace to follow
My Master and my friend!
GREET EACH OTHER WITH THE PEACE OF CHRIST
