*CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 91: 1 - 12
You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust."
For God will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the
deadly pestilence; The Lord will cover you with his pinions, and under God's
wings you will find refuge;
God's faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
You will not fear the terror of the night, or the arrow that flies by
day, or the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or the destruction that wastes
at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only look with your eyes and see the
punishment of the wicked.
Because you have made the LORD your refuge, the Most High your dwelling
place,
no evil shall befall you, no scourge come
near your tent.
For God will command the angels concerning you to guard you in all your
ways.
On their hands they will bear you up, so
that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
*HYMN 71: "On Eagle's Wings"

“We Thank Thee, O Lord” by Alice Richman
*OFFERING All things are Thine; no gift have
we,
Lord of all gifts, to offer Thee,
And hence, with grateful hearts

OFFERTORY: “Adagio” by Henry Purcell
SCRIPTURE: Jeremiah
32: 1-3a, 6-15 pg. 681 read by Doug Thomas
RESPONSIVE CALL TO PRAYER:
It was just a simple business
transaction…
Between two
cousins.
It was a real-estate deal,
the key to which, everyone knows…
Is buy low and sell high.
I doubt the real-estate
market could have gotten any lower in Judah…
The
Babylonians had already erected siege towers around the walls of the capital
city.
Jeremiah is buying, the
equivalent of, water-front property in the projected path of a category five
hurricane.
He is out of
his mind. He will never benefit from
this
purchase.
Lord, help us not to fear
being involved in hopeless transactions…
Knowing, in
You, we are prisoners of hope.
May we never fear expending
ourselves in matters from which we will not personally benefit.
May we realize
the future is a sacred trust, ever in Your care. Amen.

Decisions of
faith are personal decisions. It is for
us to choose if we will believe in God.
Decisions of faith are also public and corporate decisions. When we choose to follow Jesus we are
choosing to become part of the “Body of Christ”, the Church. If you would like to confirm the decision
you have made to begin your life of faith or continue that life as a part of
this congregation, come forward as we sing the invitational hymn and speak with
the worship leader about your decision.
