PRELUDE

INTROIT

*CALL TO WORSHIP                      Psalm 114

When Israel went out from Egypt,

the house of Jacob from a people of     strange language,

Judah became God's sanctuary,

Israel his dominion.

The sea looked and fled;

Jordan turned back.

The mountains skipped like rams,

the hills like lambs.

Why is it, O sea, that you flee?

O Jordan, that you turn back?

O mountains, that you skip like rams?

 O hills, like lambs?

Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the LORD,

at the presence of the God of Jacob,

who turns the rock into a pool of water,

the flint into a spring of water.

RESPONSIVE CALL TO PRAYER:

There are moments in life when the way of God appears to be so clearly marked…

“The angel of God who was going before the Israelite army…”

There are times when it appears to be obvious where God’s loyalty lies…

"Let us flee from the Israelites, for the LORD is fighting for them against Egypt."

Those moments of certainty are wonderful in life…

but they don’t always last long, or long

          enough.

All too soon we find ourselves in the wilderness where there is barely enough to support life…

“What!  We are going to have to live on bread and water?”

God, who is in the signs and wonders,

Etch those signs in our collective memory.

God who is in the silence of the wilderness.

May we hear and heed your voice, even when it is still and small.  Amen.

*INVITATION HYMN 282:  “Living for Jesus”

Decisions of faith are personal decisions.  It is for us to choose if we will believe in God.  Decisions of faith are also public and corporate decisions.  When we choose to follow Jesus we are choosing to become part of the “Body of Christ”, the Church.  If you would like to confirm the decision you have made to begin your life of faith or continue that life as a part of this congregation, come forward as we sing the invitational hymn and speak with the worship leader about your decision.
