time for special prayer
PRELUDE: “Communion” Theodore DuBois
INTROIT
*CALL TO WORSHIP: Psalm 34: 1-10, 22
I will bless the LORD at all times;
praise for God shall continually be in
my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the LORD;
let the humble hear and be glad.
O magnify the LORD with me,
and let us exalt God’s name together.
I sought the LORD, and God answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Look to the Lord, and be radiant; so
your faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor soul cried, and was heard by the LORD, and was saved from every trouble.
The angel of the LORD encamps around
those who fear God, and delivers them.
O taste and see that the LORD is good; happy are those who take refuge in our God.
O fear the LORD, you holy ones, for
those who fear God have no want.
The young lions suffer want and hunger, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
The LORD
redeems the life of God’s servants; none of those who take refuge in the Lord
will be condemned.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Jesus called us from the
mountain top to climb-up to a higher way of beauty in living. While we have seen people, who were committed
enough to walk in these ways, for periods of their lives, we know that no one
is perfect in these beatific qualities… including and especially me. At times, when I try peacemaking or humility,
I may look good on the surface, but inside I struggle with demons of suppressed
anger and pride. Forgive me for my
failures, Lord, and continue to call me to higher ideals. Amen.
WORDS
OF ASSURANCE:
“If we confess our sins, God
who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.”

THE LORD’S SUPPER
SHARING THE BREAD (#446)
Take time to be holy,
Speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in Him always, And
feed on His Word:
Make friends of God’s
children, Help those who are weak;
Forgetting in nothing His
blessing to seek.
Take time to be holy, The
world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret
With Jesus alone:
By looking to Jesus Like
Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct
His likeness shall see.
SHARING THE CUP (#276)
O Jesus, Thou has promised
to all who follow Thee,
That where Thou art in
glory, There shall Thy servant be;
And, Jesus, I have
promised To serve Thee to the end;
O give me grace to follow
My Master and my friend!
GREET EACH OTHER WITH THE PEACE OF CHRIST
