*CALL TO WORSHIP: Psalm
23
The Lord is my
shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me
to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me
in the paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
Yea, though I
walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou
art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest
a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with
oil;
my cup Runneth over.
Surely
goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
*HYMN 2202: “Come Away with Me”

PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Samuel was a person of
remarkable vision. From his childhood he
had heard God’s voice. Yet, even he was
fearful about anointing a new king. God
had led him to Saul, but Saul had proven to be a poor choice. How could Samuel make another choice while
Saul was still ruling? What if he was
guided again by his eyes?
We
understand Samuels fears, for we are regularly called on to choose new
leaders. We must confess that we have
chosen with our eyes and our appetites, and the world along with us, have
suffered our foolishness. Forgive us
Lord, and grant us wisdom in our choosing.
More than that, work Your will in the one we choose, and help us, and
our leaders, to walk in Your way. Amen.

SHARING THE BREAD pg.
#416
My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior
divine!
Now hear me while I pray, take all my guilt away,
O let me from this day, be wholly Thine!
May Thy rich grace impart strength to my fainting
heart,
My zeal inspire;
As Thou hast died for me, O may my love to Thee
Pure, warm and changeless be, A living fire!
SHARING THE CUP pg.
#342
Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in
Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side which flowed.
Be of sin the double cure, Save from wrath and make
me pure.
Not the labors of my hands Can fulfill thy law’s
demands;
These for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and
Thou alone:
In my hand no price I bring, Simply to Thy cross I
cling. Amen.
