*CALL TO WORSHIP                        Psalm 31: 1-5, 15,16

In you, O LORD, I seek refuge; do not let me ever be put to shame;

in your righteousness deliver me.

Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily. Be a rock of refuge for me,

a strong fortress to save me.

You are indeed my rock and my fortress;

for your name's sake lead me and guide me,

take me out of the net that is hidden for me,

for you are my refuge.

Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me,

O LORD, faithful God.

My times are in your hand;

deliver me from the hand of my enemies and

persecutors.

Let your face shine upon your servant;

save me in your steadfast love.

RESPONSIVE CALL TO PRAYER:

Education is a process of introducing and reintroducing information to people, until concepts are assimilated and turned into actions by the student.

It is a process performed by a teacher, not by a

magician.

This process of learning takes place at differing rates in different people.

One would have thought that people exposed directly

to Jesus, as Thomas and Philip were. would have

understood Jesus’ destination and relationship to God.

And Thomas, having had  Jesus explain that he was ‘the way, and the truth, and the life,’ how could he be so full of doubt later, after the resurrection?

            Was Thomas just dense?

Education is a process of introducing and reintroducing information to people.  Assimilation doesn’t always, or usually, take place in one’s initial exposure to the subject.

            Besides in each student there are levels of learning

            determined by age and experience. With some things

            and in some people it just takes more time.

Lord God, we thank you for teachers who have been patient with us in our whole and half heart, attempts to learn about relating to You.

Most of all we thank you for Your Spirit, which has  opened stirred from us that confession, that Jesus is the Christ… Flesh and blood could never do that.  Amen.
