PRELUDE Prelude on “ Morning Song” by
Steven Scott
INTROIT
2068: "I Love You,
Lord"
*CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 81: 1, 10-16
Sing aloud to God our
strength;
shout for joy
to the God of Jacob.
I am the LORD your God, who
brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
Open your
mouth wide and I will fill it.
"But my people did not
listen to my voice;
Israel would
not submit to me.
So I gave them over to their
stubborn hearts,
to follow
their own counsels.
O that my people would
listen to me,
that Israel
would walk in my ways!
Then I would quickly subdue
their enemies,
and turn my
hand against their foes.
Those who hate the LORD would
cringe before him,
and their doom
would last forever.
I would feed you with the
finest of the wheat,
and with honey
from the rock I would satisfy you."

God"

RESPONSIVE CALL TO PRAYER:
I know, I don't think it was
wise to tell a host that the
wrong people
had been invited for dinner.
It was probably a good way
not to get invited back for dinner.
I am not certain Jesus even fell within the suggested guest pool.
And then this suggestion
about not taking seats of honor… instead take the lowest place.
Couldn't that
be just as prideful… Waiting for the host or hostess to make a big fuss about
getting you in the right seat.
Lord God, help guide us in
developing table graces.
Help us to find the appropriate seat, and enjoy those
who sit
nearby.
And when we have the
opportunity to do the inviting…
May we not hesitate to welcome any of Your children.
Amen.

HYMN 2228: "Sacred the
Body"
Decisions of faith are personal decisions. It is for us to choose if we will believe in
God. Decisions of faith are also public
and corporate decisions. When we choose
to follow Jesus we are choosing to become part of the “Body of Christ”, the
Church. If you would like to confirm
the decision you have made to begin your life of faith or continue that life as
a part of this congregation, come forward as we sing the invitational hymn and
speak with the worship leader about your decision.
