INTROIT  2150:              "Lord, Be Glorified"      (Verse 1)

*CALL TO WORSHIP                       Psalm 50: 1-8, 12-13, 23

The mighty one, God the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.

Our God comes and does not keep silence, before the Lord is a devouring fire, with mighty tempest all around.

God calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people:

"Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!"

The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge.

"Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, I will testify against you. I am God, your God.

Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; your burnt offerings are continually before me.

"If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and all that is in it is mine.

Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?

Those who bring thanksgiving as their sacrifice honor me; to those who go the right way I will show the salvation of God."

RESPONSIVE CALL TO PRAYER:

It appears that for more and more people…

            Sin is no big deal.

They do what they please…

            Whatever!

But for me,

            For us, sin matters

Our sin affects other people,

            it affects creation around us.

So the eternal question remains…

How do we remedy this problem of sin?

For many the answer was sacrifice…

Where there was smoke there was sin, and

forgiveness.

Reason lead others to question sacrificing one of God's creations for their sin…

            Does that please God?

Lord God, who comes to reason with us,

about scarlet sin, and woolly wholeness.

call us from willfulness…

Help us to be obedient in Jesus name.  Amen.

Decisions of faith are personal decisions.  It is for us to choose if we will believe in God.  Decisions of faith are also public and corporate decisions.  When we choose to follow Jesus we are choosing to become part of the “Body of Christ”, the Church.  If you would like to confirm the decision you have made to begin your life of faith or continue that life as a part of this congregation, come forward as we sing the invitational hymn and speak with the worship leader about your decision.
