INTROIT 313: "Come, Let Us Reason"

*CALL TO WORSHIP:                      Psalm 107: 1-9, 43

O give thanks to the LORD, for God is good;

with steadfast love enduring forever.

Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,

those God redeemed from trouble

and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to an inhabited town;

hungry and thirsty,

their soul fainted within them.

Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,

and God delivered them from their distress;

The Lord led them by a straight way,

until they reached an inhabited town.

Let them give thanks for God's steadfast love,

for the Lord's wonderful works to humankind.

For God satisfies the thirsty,

and the hungry are filled with good things.

Let those who are wise give heed to these things,

and consider the steadfast love of the LORD.

"The world is too much with us; late and soon,

Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers:"

God of power, which has been poured out on your children, forgive us for squandering that power on selfish ends.  The society around us cries out "Why not build bigger barns?"… "If you've got it flaunt it"…  Help us not to be caught up in laying waste our powers.  Instead may we use Your power in us to "Bless all of the nations of the earth,"  Your earth.  Amen.

RENEWAL OF THE CHURCH COVENANT

THE LORD'S SUPPER

SHARING THE BREAD                                 #350

The Church's one foundation Is Jesus Christ her Lord;

She is His new creation, By Spirit and the Word;

From Heaven He came and sought her To be His holy bride

With His own blood He bought her, And for her life He died.

'Mid toil and tribulation, And tumult of her war,

She waits the consummation Of peace forevermore;

Till with the vision glorious, Her longing eyes are blest,

And the great Church victorious Shall be the Church at rest.

SHARING THE CUP

Hear! Church of God! as God, through Christ is pleading

His gracious truth where by our souls are fed.

Live in His light, that life‑light ever leading

His people here, as learners gladly led.

Hear! Church of God! to Christ His Son be heeding:

Our Christ divine who for our sins hath bled.

HYMN 387:      "Blest Be the Tie that Binds"         (Verse 1)
