*CALL TO WORSHIP:                       Psalm 119: 97-104

Oh, how I love your law!

It is my meditation all day long.

Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies,

for it is always with me.

I have more understanding than all my teachers,

for your decrees are my meditation.

I understand more than the aged,

for I keep your precepts.

I hold back my feet from every evil way,

in order to keep your word.

I do not turn away from your ordinances,

for you have taught me.

How sweet are your words to my taste,

sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Through your precepts I get understanding;

therefore I hate every false way.

RESPONSIVE CALL TO PRAYER:

Jeremiah prophesied for about 40 years, and these words of consolation might have been from his early days, as he reflected on the captivity of the northern kingdom…

            “The days are surely coming…”

His hope was in the restoration and  repopulation of Israel and Judah.  His prayer was for the time…

When God would sow the land with the seeds of humans and animals.

Jeremiah prayed for the day when God’s covenant community would know the law because it was written on their hearts.

God of the higher way, of the way which is not our way, we open our hearts to your directing.  Through Jesus inscribe in our deepest being the way in which we are to walk… and give us grace to follow.  Amen.

*HYMN 11:        “My God, How Wonderful You Are”

THE GOSPEL:                  Luke 18: 1-8                      pg. 911

*INVITATION HYMN 454:  “God Our Father You Have Led Us”

Decisions of faith are personal decisions.  It is for us to choose if we will believe in God.  Decisions of faith are also public and corporate decisions.  When we choose to follow Jesus we are choosing to become part of the “Body of Christ”, the Church.  If you would like to confirm the decision you have made to begin your life of faith or continue that life as a part of this congregation, come forward as we sing the invitational hymn and speak with the worship leader about your decision.
