PRELUDE:      “Communion Voluntary”   by F. Linley

INTROIT

*CALL TO WORSHIP:           Psalm 148: 1-6, 10-14

Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens;

praise God in the heights!

Praise the Lord, all his angels;

praise him, all his host!

Praise him, sun and moon;

praise him, all you shining stars!

Praise him, you highest heavens,

and you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the LORD,

for God commanded and they were created.

The Lord established them forever and ever;

fixing their bounds, which cannot be passed.

Wild animals and all cattle,

creeping things and flying birds!

Kings of the earth and all peoples,

princes and all rulers of the earth!

Young men and women alike,

old and young together!

Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted;

            God’s glory is above earth and heaven.

THE GOSPEL:            John 13: 31-35            pg. 938     read by Mary Frantz.

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION:        by Lavon Bayler

Generous Provider, you have loved us and met our needs, even when we have ignored you and resisted your Word.  We have not loved you or one another as you command, but have looked for saviors in our own image and have given our attention to those from whom we think we can gain.  We have closed our eyes to the suffering and pain we help to inflict on some of your children.  Forgive us and turn us around, lest our care and concern come too late to help other children whom you love.  Amen.

ASSURANCE AND FORGIVNESS:

Stand up on your feet and walk.  God has healed your crippled spirits and helped you to feel the pain of your sisters and brothers.  God satisfies you with food and gladness, so you can pass on the mercies of your Creator to others.  God is your Alpha and Omega, the Source and the Ending of all things.  Dwell in God’s love as forgiven sinners.

According to Thy gracious Word In meek humility

This will I do, my loving Lord: I will remember Thee.

Thy body given for my sake, My bread from heav’n shall be:

Thy testamental cup I take, And thus remember Thee.

SHARING THE CUP                          #373

pond’ring Your love with cup and bread.
