PRELUDE                   “Sarabande”                            by F. Chopin

INTROIT 2025:               “As the Deer”

*CALL TO WORSHIP                        Psalm 85: 6 - 13

Will you not revive us again,

so that your people may rejoice in you?

Show us your steadfast love,

O LORD, and grant us your salvation.

Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful,

to those who turn to him in their hearts.

Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him,

that his glory may dwell in our land.

Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet;

righteousness and peace will kiss each other.

Faithfulness will spring up from the ground,

and righteousness will look down from the sky.

The LORD will give what is good,

and our land will yield its increase.

Righteousness will go before him,

and will make a path for his steps.

RESPONSIVE CALL TO PRAYER:

When we were baptized, we chose Christ’s way for our lives, and we follow his way with thanksgiving.

We would never allow a lesser philosophy to

            lead us away--or would we?

How about the consumerism of our society, whose answer to every problem is “buy something”?

Bad day at work?--Buy yourself a drink or a

            pair of shoes.

Kids alone while you work?--Buy them a computer or an “i phone”.

Terrorist attack on a major city?—just go out and buy something—anything at all.

Maybe the way of the Spirit takes more discipline than we realized.

            Lord, Teach us to pray.

*INVITATION HYMN 2128:  “Come and Find the Quiet Center

Decisions of faith are personal decisions.  It is for us to choose if we will believe in God.  Decisions of faith are also public and corporate decisions.  When we choose to follow Jesus we are choosing to become part of the “Body of Christ”, the Church.  If you would like to confirm the decision you have made to begin your life of faith or continue that life as a part of this congregation, come forward as we sing the invitational hymn and speak with the worship leader about your decision.
