INTROIT:
*CALL TO WORSHIP: Psalm 148
Praise the LORD! Praise the
LORD from the heavens;
praise
him in the heights!
Praise him, all his angels;
praise
him, all his host!
Praise him, sun and moon;
praise
him, all you shining stars!
Praise him, you highest
heavens,
and
you waters above the heavens!
Let them praise the name of
the LORD,
for
God commanded and they were created.
The Lord established them
forever and ever;
fixing
their bounds, which cannot be passed.
Praise the LORD from the
earth,
you
sea monsters and all deeps,
fire and hail, snow and frost,
stormy
wind fulfilling his command!
Mountains and all hills,
fruit
trees and all cedars!
Wild animals and all cattle,
creeping
things and flying birds!
Kings of the earth and all
peoples,
princes
and all rulers of the earth!
Young men and women alike,
old
and young together!
Let them praise the name of
the LORD, for his name alone is exalted;
God’s
glory is above earth and heaven.
He has raised up a horn for
his people,
praise for all his faithful,
for the people of
Praise
the LORD!

CHILDRENS TIME
RESPONSIVE CALL TO PRAYER:
What we read was a recital of past
blessings…
“I
will recount the gracious deeds of the Lord.”
The blessings poured out on us by God give
us the feeling that they should go on forever…
“According
to the abundance of God’s steadfast
love.”
God didn’t just send an angel or messenger
to deliver us…
God came in person, Immanuel, God with us!
It has only been five days since our
celebration of the birth of the Christ… Has God been with you? Have you been with God?
I’m
sure I was with God, for at least a few
minutes,
every day.
Lord God forgive us when we complain about
your absence, as did the Hebrew people in the wilderness; or when we flee from your
presence, as your disciples did in your crucifixion.
As
we begin this New Year may we find
disciplines
to open ourselves more regularly to
your
presence and leading. Amen.
