*CALL TO WORSHIP: Psalm 104: 24-34, 35b
O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. Yonder is the sea, great and wide, creeping things innumerable are there, living things both small and great. There go the ships, and Leviathan that you formed to sport in it.
These
all look to you to give them their food in due
season;
when you give to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things. When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. When you send forth your spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the ground.
May
the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the
LORD
rejoice in his works--
who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke. I will sing to the LORD as long as I live;
I
will sing praise to my God while I have being.
May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the LORD.
Bless
the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD!

PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
God,
whose Spirit moved in and above the heads of your disciples as divided tongues
of fire, we thank you for the harmony of hearing brought by those flames. We are thankful for moments when your Spirit
has brought common understanding among peoples of divided tongues. However, we must confess that there have been
times when we haven’t tried to listen in or for Your Spirit. We have dismissed those who spoke in strange
tongues as “sounding drunk” or ignorant.
Forgive us for in failing to listen we have failed to recognize our
sisters and brothers in You. Amen.

SHARING
THE BREAD (#371)
I come with joy to meet my Lord,
Forgiven, loved, and free,
In awe and wonder to recall
His life laid down for me.
As Christ breaks bread and bids us share,
Each proud division ends,
The love that made us, makes us one,
And strangers now are friends.
SHARING THE CUP (#330)
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am
found,
Was blind but now I see.
‘Twas grace that taught my
heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace
appear
The hour I first believed.
