The wor= d of the Lord was rare… visions were not widespread… Eli’s eyesight was getting dim…

But the lamp of the Lord had not yet gone out.

Those w= ords about the lamp meant that it was night, but the dawn was probably close.

        &= nbsp; And this dawning would be in Samuel.

God sho= uld have spoken to Eli.  He was the priest.

        &= nbsp; He could enter the holy of holies.

But thi= s dawning, this word from God, comes to the child Samuel…<= /p>

        &= nbsp; Because of the sin of Eli’s two sons.

It doesn’t seem fair Ezekiel says that we will suffer for our own sins.<= o:p>

Faithful Eli even has to explain to Samuel that this voice = he is hearing is the voice of God.

God, wh= ose call is always beyond our understanding,

Help us to hear and obey when Your call comes to us.  Amen.

Decis= ions of faith are personal decisions.  It is for us to choose if we will believe in God.  Decisions of faith are also public= and corporate decisions.  When we = choose to follow Jesus we are choosing to become part of the “Body of Christ”, the Church.  If= you would like to confirm the decision you have made to begin your life of fait= h or continue that life as a part of this congregation, come forward as we sing = the invitational hymn and speak with the worship leader about your decision.
