*CALL TO WORSHIP:                                              Psalm 29

Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings,

ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.

Ascribe to the LORD the glory of his name;

worship the LORD in holy splendor.

The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over mighty waters.

The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon. God makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.  The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire.

The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the LORD causes the oaks to whirl, and strips the forest bare; and in his temple all say,

"Glory!"

The LORD sits enthroned over the flood;

the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.

May the LORD give strength to his people!

May the LORD bless his people with peace!

The Spirit of the Lord alights

Decisions of faith are personal decisions.  It is for us to choose if we will believe in God.  Decisions of faith are also public and corporate decisions.  When we choose to follow Jesus we are choosing to become part of the “Body of Christ”, the Church.  If you would like to confirm the decision you have made to begin your life of faith or continue that life as a part of this congregation, come forward as we sing the invitational hymn and speak with the worship leader about your decision.

Baptism

There's something about this,

about putting the people under the water

and raising them up

in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost,

something that makes them want to want

everything to be all right,

that makes them want to leave this place

and be better,

to immerse themselves in their lives

and somehow be washed clean

of all the things they think

they should not have done

and should not still want to do.

That's it.

Not the other stuff,

the star in the east,

the treasure in heaven,

or any of the old stories.

Not even life after death.

It is only to be new again.
