From
the Pastor:
As
this New Year begins I find that I need to write you all a news netter, not
because there is so much news to report, but to thank you all for the generous
gift which you gave me for my 60th birthday.
On December 9th, a week after my real birthday,
long after I expected that day of infamy to have been forgotten, we were
together having our Annual Congregational Christmas Dinner. Ann Ray had told me that we would be honoring
Susan Edwards with a special gift, and would I please set up the sound system
in the Social Hall. In all of the activities with the young people’s program
that day I forgot to set up the sound system, but Ann said that would be
alright. She had been a teacher and she
would have no problem projecting her voice.
At that point I expected her to call Susan up to the front for the
recognition, but she didn’t; she called me, who had wandered off to the side,
to come back up front. At first I
thought she might have changed her mind about the sound system, but instead she
was unveiling a large check, both physically and fiscally. On the top of the check was a picture of St.
Andrews golf course in
planned for May 24th
– June 3rd.
I was totally surprised by the gift and your
generosity. I had not made connection to
the fact that all of my children had planned to come to the lunch that day, or
that so many people had signed up for the Christmas Dinner. I just thought it was because Bruce Edwards
was cooking and everybody just loved his cooking… And we all do, and the meal
was great. But the check was too
much.. I feel as if I should write some
kind of sabbatical book, but I doubt that you would want me to write about my
golf experiences. I guess the best that
I can do is to say thank you to all of you who contributed to the gift and
these past 30 years of my ministry at

The Church is in need
of Tellers (those who count our Sunday offerings). The counting is usually done
on the weekday and deposit is made into the bank. This does not require one
to be an accountant, just the ability to count money as you do your own. You
would be doing this only once every five weeks.
If you would consider helping us, please speak with Rev. Fred Weimert
or call the Church office.
